MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Senior Chief Petty Officer Larry Bond, a native of Windsor, North Carolina, serving in the United States Navy wishes a good game in the 2026 Super Bowl.

“I don’t care who wins. Just give a good game,” Bond said. “I am rooting for Drake Maye, Go UNC!”

Bond, a 2009 Bertie High School graduate, joined the Navy 16 years ago. Today, Brown serves as a logistics specialist with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11.

This year, the Navy is commemorating its contribution to the nation’s defense as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence.

According to Navy officials, for more than 250 years, the Navy has sailed the globe defending freedom and protecting prosperity.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

As Bond and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the U.S. Navy.

“Serving in the Navy has been life-changing,” Bond added. “It has opened me up to so many experiences that many in my hometown would never experience. I am grateful to be a Navy sailor and to give back to my country.”
